Abundance Fruit Preservation Officer
Grow Sheffield and the Abundance project is looking for a fruit preservation officer to work across the city to oversee the preservation of abundance goods during the harvest season. Our volunteers will oversee the planning and coordination of preservation workshops, and ensure the care and maintenance of our harvested fruit. You’ll work closely with the project leader, area coordinator and Tree Preservation officerto ensure that Abundance is developing in a sustainable and responsible way. Maybe you’re interested in urban agriculture or already know of the Abundance project and want to become more involved? This role could be for you.
The Fruit Preservation Officer will work closely with the Abundance Project Leader and Area Coordinators. You will liaise with the Events Coordinator regularly and will help to plan the Abundance calendar of events. You will be responsible for organising preservation workshops, such as chutney making, including helping to oversee storage, labelling, distribution and the sale of produce. You will also be required to attend sales events, such as markets and fairs.
You’ll be representing Abundance, but you’ll also become an integral part of the project. As our Fruit Preservation Officer, you’ll play a key part in ensuring that we are being thorough in all that we do. An interest in urban agriculture, and in particular fruit trees, is essential. We will provide you with an introduction to Grow Sheffield and Abundance to bring you up to date with our organisation, and we also offer regular, free training and an in-house induction.
