Abundance Winter Pruning Workshops 2009
Two half day pruning workshops were held in gardens in Nether Edge and Heeley this January and February. The apple trees pruned were harvested for Abundance in 2008 and hopefully will be again this year. Both events were well attended by current and future Abundance and Grow Sheffield volunteers and our tutor was Darrell Maryon – organic growing expert from Heeley City Farm projects. Although the weather on both days was very cold, the chance to learn basic fruit tree care and pruning techniques from Darrell in great company was appreciated by all. There are also pictures below from the pruning workshops which took place in the winter of 2007/08. All these trees, situated in Nether Edge, were harvested over the autumn of 2008 as part of the Abundance project.
